The Brant Foundation arrives in New York

An impressive contemporary art collection.

During the renovation work of the Brant Foundation from Greenwich CT, the tour continues... in Manhattan!

In fact, the foundation has just acquired a brand new, sublime space in the East Village to present its contemporary art collection.

The majestic building it now occupies was long owned by the Consolidated Edison firm, better known as ConEd.

But the building is especially famous for having served as a studio and incidentally as the home of the late New York artist Walter De Maria from 1980 to 2013.

Acquired by Peter Brant in 2014 for 27 million dollars, it has just been completely and beautifully restored by Gluckman Tang Architects, which had already worked for the Greenwich parent company.

The foundation, administered by Allison Brant (daughter of), houses on four floors, two side gardens and an absolutely exceptional rooftop (surprise, you'll see!) , part of the Brant Collection, as well as a center for artistic studies.

An inaugural, free exhibition, organized in collaboration with the Louis Vuitton Foundation and Dr. Dieter Buchhart, currently brings together 70 of Jean-Michel Basquiat's most important masterpieces.

Fan or not a fan of the artist, this visit is an absolute MUST SEE.
