New York Electronic Art Festival

Electronic art celebrates on Governors Island

The New York Electronic Art Festival, which is the 7th edition this year, is coming to Governors Island until 11 August. The event is a mixture of exhibitions, concerts, conferences and workshops, with a common theme: questions around technology. Among the highlights, Building 10a in Nolan Park will host the exhibition “Physical and Digital: Multifaceted Visions in Electronic Art””, which includes artists Julia Sinelnikova, Amy Youngs, Amanda Gutiérrez and Zahra Poonawala.

The latter presents a work entitled”Manifesto from Lorraine”, a “sound sculpture” whose name is a tribute to the region of France that suffered the most from the end of the industrial era. The work consists of a motorized glass enclosure that broadcasts extracts from works and manifestos by various authors who lived at different times by performing pendulum movements synchronized with the texts. Zahra Poonawalais a French-Swiss musician and artist based in New York, a graduate of the Haute Ecole des Arts du Rhin and the National Studio of Contemporary Arts.

The festival is free and open to all.
