Fotografiska

The new temple of the image in New York

Photo lovers are in a state of mind: one of the major institutions of contemporary photography arrives in New York. Fotografiska opens its doors on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 281 Park Avenue South, at the corner of 22nd Street. This prestigious address corresponds to one of the jewels of New York architecture, a listed building of five floors in the Flemish Renaissance style, built in 1894. Long owned by religious organizations, the former Church Missions House is becoming a multi-conceptual space where the communicative power of the image appears in all its forms, from silver photos to multimedia documentaries.

This new artistic event is the New York extension of Fotografiska Stockholm, designed in 2010 by the Swedish brothers Per and Jan Broman and became, in less than ten years, an essential reference in photography.
